INTERVIEW: Borgore at TomorrowWorld

Listen to Borgore on iHeartRadio

A musician who thinks outside the box, Borgore continues to push the envelope in not only dubstep, but in electronic music in general. Among his original productions, he's worked with artists like Miley Cyrus, and now Waka Flocka Flame - who he's getting ready to head out on the road with, on the Aokify America tour.

We caught up with Borgore before his set on the Dim Mak stage at TomorrowWorld where he talked about Aokify America, what he needs to have on the bus with him, working with Miley Cyrus, and more.  Check it out below:

Are you excited to play on the Dim Mak stage at TomorrowWorld?

I'm super excited, it's a milestone, [I] would say.

You're also getting ready to head out on the Aokify America tour with Steve Aoki and Waka Flocka Flame! What are you looking forward to the most?

Yes, and Pharrell on a couple of dates.  I'm looking for to that. It's a really interesting  mix of genres.  I think it will be a good time though. I like most of these guys' music a lot, and I like them as people, and it will be good times. To be honest, I love bus tours because I can go to sleep. I don't have to wake up in the morning for the plane. Honestly, I think that what's good about touring with artists that you like, is they give you inspiration to work on new music. They are there to give you ideas, they are there to hear your new stuff. I don't know, it keeps a creative environment.

What are the essentials for being on the bus?

Laptop. That's it. I'm pretty simple, I know. All I want to do is work on music. And Xbox is good too...a couple of packs of condoms as well.

Earlier in the year you released your Legend EP? How was making that?

I mean, that was the first EP that I released after "Decisions" and it's quite hard to follow -anything is quite hard to follow after "Decisions." But, I had good times working on it. I think that the fact that I'm doing other things than dubstep, just learning how to produce new genres, just gives you a whole new...like mixing all these ideas together is really good. And I'm now working on an EP for Dim Mak, a song with Waka [Flocka Flame], then another song. Exciting things! I'm having good times.

Who is a legend to you?

Bach, he's pretty legendary, Johann Sebastian is killing it. Leonardo Davinci is pretty legendary as well.

How was it working with Miley Cyrus on "Decisions?"

A lot of fun, she a good time, very down to earth. Super talented vocal-wise. Like, I didn't know what to expect, but she went into the recording booth and just killed it. Like straight, no melodyne, no anything, just this girl is on point when it comes to singing. [It] was a really good time. I wish there was more singers like her.

She's constantly making headlines. What do you think of all the media attention she's been getting lately?

It's more like being 20 and under all this f**king pressure.  I don't know how it is to be Miley Cyrus, I know how it is to be Borgore. And to be Borgore is not always easy.  To be any person that has any recognition is not easy because there [are] a lot of fans that love you, but you can wake up in the morning and get like, "die" comments. I'm just imagining what it's like a day in Miley Cyrus' life.

How are you liking her new music?

I think it's good. I think "Decisions" is better.  But she's working with Mike Will, [who] is probably one of my favorite[s]. Every song he's making is just, I don't know how this guy is doing it. He's just killing it every time, it's really good. It's good music, I have nothing bad to say.

So you said you're working on EP for Dim Mak, what else are you working on?

I just wrote a hip-hop song yesterday that I'm really happy with. I don't know what I'm gonna do with that, it's really good. I'm just working on so much music right now, it's all I do. This and playing GTA, and re-tweeting naked chicks.
