Metro-North Running at 50 Percent Capacity

Metro-North Running at 50 Percent Capacity

The Metro-North New Haven line is running on a reduced schedule Monday for the sixth straight day as Con Edison crews work to fix a feeder cable in Mount Vernon, NY. It looks like it will still take several more weeks for crews to fix the cable which will leave commuters with longer commutes and crowded trains for the foreseeable future.

My Fox NY reports; however, that temporary transformers are in place allowing trains to operate at about 50 percent capacity between New Haven and NYC. In addition, some park and ride areas have been set up allowing commuters access to the Harlem line with Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy saying that additional park and ride areas will increase capacity to about 65 percent of normal rail-traffic.
